How do you convert binary (base 2) to base 10?

decimal equivalent of 1010 is 10
Now how to proceed is...
go from left to right raising to the power of 2 starting from 0,1,2,3...

for example..
1010=1*(2^3) + 0*(2^2) + 1*(2^1) + 0*(2^0) = 8+0+2+0=10

here I've used ^ for raise to the power symbol
