In moderation, yes I would agree with spanking as a form of discipline. No matter how we wanted to discipline our children in a more humane way, there's always comes a time where our patience will be put to the test. And sometimes when that thin thread is broken, its the time to result to spanking.

But when spanking becomes a habit or it becomes a form of abuse, then I would definitely switch to the other side.

Everything should be done in moderation and it should be done in times when patience and good words seems to have no affect anymore.

I'm for it - spanking that is. I do not believe it is a form of physical abuse and I do not believe that stern direction via communication will sufficiently punish a child. However, there is a fine line between spanking and abuse that must not be crossed.

I agree. I did not get spanked that much as a child and if I did it was never as abuse. I think that it is fine to do it once if a child is in the wrong and have been warned not to do it. If a child is spanked repeatedly or beat then it is not ok.
